Audrey Voss returns to her Hamptons estate for papers and finds Chloe, housekeeper Martha’s daughter, in her late mother’s nightgown claiming ownership. Spared out of respect for Martha, Audrey later discovers Chloe has moved in and stolen her belongings. At a graduation party, Chloe poses as the Voss heiress, flaunting her Whitmore Capital internship. She shames Audrey as a charity dependent and smashes her mother’s heirloom locket. Upon Alexander Whitmore’s arrival, Chloe unwittingly admits her misdeeds under his prompting. Martha confesses Audrey is the lawful heir. Alexander revokes Chloe’s internship; Marcus brings lawyers and police. Chloe loses her fake prestige, scholarship and future. Audrey reclaims her legacy through her own resolve.
