My List

At her law-school graduation party, Camille Hayes discovers that her ex, Derek, has projected her private photos across the ballroom. When she confronts him, Mafia gunmen move in to kill her. The man who saves her is Roman DeLuca, the forty-two-year-old father of her best friend, Sofia. Roman left his criminal family years ago and now runs a legitimate security firm. But he recognizes a coded ledger and a missing woman hidden in the background of Camille’s leaked photo. The image makes Camille the only witness Victor DeLuca cannot allow to live. Roman hides her in a coastal safehouse. Camille refuses to wait behind locked doors. She traces money, contacts victims, and forces Roman to train her to survive. Their attraction grows through late-night surveillance, close-quarters defense, and the danger neither can control. To infiltrate Victor’s underground auction, they pose as lovers. Their first kiss is photographed and sent to Sofia, destroying the friendship that made their relationship forbidden. Camille chooses the case over hiding. With other survivors and a federal prosecutor, she builds a trap that forces Victor to confess during a live auction. Roman must face the family he abandoned, while Camille becomes the lawyer who destroys the blackmail network that once used her shame as a weapon.
