Liam Carter was once the brightest young forward in the hockey world, a prodigy whose career was destined for greatness. But after his father dragged him into a match-fixing scandal to cash in on his fame, his career was shattered overnight, sending him from the top of the world to rock bottom. Six years later, Liam makes his long-awaited return to the ice, only to discover that his former high school nemesis, Mateo Torres, has become the backbone of the team. The poor kid from the slums is now a formidable, hard-hitting defenseman who shines on the ice. Forced to play up a “former enemies turned friends” storyline for publicity, the two are moved into the same sponsor-provided apartment, with their every training session and daily interaction filmed for the cameras. As they spend more and more time together, the feelings they never dared to admit back in high school begin to resurface. But when the criminal forces behind the old match-fixing scandal come back for revenge, Liam’s family is threatened. While protecting Liam from the gang, Mateo suffers a devastating ankle injury that could end his career. Now, the two must face the ultimate test: their futures on the ice—and the love they can no longer hide. In the end, they join forces with the police to set a trap for the gang. During the semifinals, they pull off a stunning comeback. Mateo scores the winning goal, then kisses Liam in front of the entire world’s live cameras after the game. The blade that was supposed to end their old feud ultimately cuts through every fear, hesitation, and disguise standing between them.
