Elena Sterling, once the most dazzling socialite of high society, loses her father overnight and watches her family go bankrupt, while her brother Noah is buried under fifty million in black-market debt. At her wit's end, she is delivered like goods by her creditors to Alexander Draven, the underground godfather of Ravenport. To save her brother, she is forced to sign a 99-day "devil's contract," becoming Alexander's fake fiancée. Yet as the black rose mark awakens, Elena discovers that her family's ruin was no accident — her father's death, her brother's debts, and even her own encounter with Alexander are all part of a carefully laid hunt revolving around an ancient bloodline. Facing love, betrayal, and the blood-moon conspiracy, she no longer waits for anyone to save her. Step by step, she transforms from a down-and-out socialite at the mercy of others into a queen who commands capital and contracts, standing shoulder to shoulder with Alexander to tear apart the masterminds' game and rewrite the rules of the underworld in their own name.
