On their fifth wedding anniversary, Claire, a pregnant and well-known late-night relationship show host, discovers that her husband Ethan, a successful finance executive, has been having an affair with Madison, the woman he has always protected. To protect his mistress, Ethan manipulates public opinion and destroys the career Claire spent years building. Even after she suffers a devastating miscarriage, he still abandons her to take care of Madison. Heartbroken but finally clear-eyed, Claire quietly activates the terms of their prenup. She gathers the evidence, finalizes the divorce, takes everything she is entitled to under the agreement, and leaves behind only the final divorce decree and her miscarriage report before walking away from America for good. Only after Claire is completely gone does Ethan begin to realize what he has destroyed with his own hands.
